Maryland Law mandates a safety inspection for most used vehicles before it is sold or transferred. For most vehicles the seller or transferor is responsible for to obtain the inspection certificate. However, for class E trucks (exceeding ¾ ton manufacturer’s rated capacity), class G freight trailers, class F truck tractors, and semi-trailers and dump service semi-trailers, this certificate can be obtained by either the seller / transferor or the purchaser / transferee. The next step requires the purchaser / transferee to submit the inspection certificate to the MVA for registration of the vehicle. 

In case you get your vehicle inspected at an inspection station offering an electronic inspection service (e-inspection), you will not be provided with an inspection certificate. Your inspection certificate will reach the MVA through electronic transfer. Contact us today to learn more.
